What I want to convey through the summer school
An encounter with a teacher changed my life.
I was attracted and impressed by the spirituality of the teacher, and determined to learn about life through kimono.
What I want to achieve is beyond learning kimono sewing and learning about kimono.
Another theme of mine is to improve my spirituality.
To look at oneself, to create value, and to live freely.
I decided to learn about life through kimono, and jumped into the world of kimono sewing.
The battle with loneliness that kept me sewing even while I slept….
It was an important experience for me because I was able to follow through with my goal without losing sight of it, and it brought me closer to the “spirituality” I was aiming for.
It was an important experience for me.

Teaching Career
Miki Wakamatsu (Certified Kimono tailor)
2008 Entered a kimono tailoring school.
I graduated in three years instead of the usual four years.
In three years, I tailored about 600 kimonos (an average of more than 16 kimonos per month).
Normally, I could only learn to tailor “tomesode” and “furisode”, but I also learned to tailor children’s kimono, cotton padding for “hanten”, and many other special items.
2011 Became independent.
I became independent, specializing in kimono tailoring, and started own tailoring business and kimono sewing classes.
In the kimono sewing class, I has received favorable comments from students such as “easy to understand” and “good materials.
2018, I held a “classroom-based kimono sewing” course that is KOTARO summer school now.
Since the course focuses on learning the structure of kimono, students say, “I can understand kimono in a short time! “It’s a good review of kimono making! It’s a good review of kimono.
2021 Part-time lecturer at a university.
